Image of We're Going on a Pumpkin Hunt!

A team of Reception Class children joined Mrs Nelson to harvest the pumpkins grown by our school gardening club.

The children took turns to push our new wheelbarrow all the way to our garden area on the school field.  It was a lot of fun!

In the polytunnel, we found six pumpkins and learnt that they grow on a plant called a vine.  We had to be very strong to cut the pumpkins from the vines and load them into the wheelbarrow to take back to school!

Reception Class are going to use these pumpkins for lots of exciting activities this week.

One of the pumpkins has been carved into a lantern and it will later be used in a science experiment to learn about the life cycle of a pumpkin.

We have created a spiky pumpkin hedgehog called Sarah after the hedgehog that we took to the rescue centre. We think that Sarah, our pumpkin hedgehog looks amazing!
