Image of Recycling is a Whole-School Effort!

At our school, everyone is playing a part in making our garden more sustainable. From our site supervisor Mr. Frankland to Jayne in the kitchen, and even our youngest pupils are getting involved!

We've been finding creative ways to reuse and recycle:

Tomato cans are now home to our growing tomato plants - true 'tinned tomatoes!"

Egg boxes from the kitchen are used for chitting potatoes, bedding for our worm farm and adding carbon to our composting bays.

Mr. Frankland saves cardboard which we use to line the bottom of the raised beds and feed both the compost and the worm farm.

Staff are collecting fruit punnets, which we'll reuse to package and sell our school-grown produce.

Fruit and vegetable waste from breaktimes is collected across the school and added to our compost bays, helping to create nutrient rich compost for our garden.

Re-CYCLING!  We have repurposed an old bicycle wheel as a creative plant trellis - perfect for our sweet peas to climb!

A special thank you to Oliver in Year 1, who collects empty yogurt drink bottles from his Grandma. We've turned them into colourful protectors for the ends of our garden canes - keeping our garden both safe and colourful.

It's amazing to see what we can achieve when the whole school community works together to care for the planet. Every small action adds up to something big!
