Flora our Therapy Dog
Each week, we are lucky to welcome Flora, our wonderful therapy dog, and her owner, Catherine, into school. Flora is part of Pets as Therapy and plays a special role in helping our children develop a love of reading.
Children have the opportunity to read aloud to Flora, who listens patiently and helps make reading feel calm, enjoyable and pressure-free. This can be a fantastic way to build confidence, particularly for children who may feel nervous about reading aloud.
Our library also has a special area called Sofia’s Corner, named in memory of Sofia, Flora’s aunt and our very first therapy dog. It provides a cosy, welcoming space where children can relax, enjoy a book and share their reading with their furry friend.
