From Tiny Seeds, Remembrance Grows

Back in November 2025, our School Gardening Club sowed poppy seeds in our school garden, beginning a very meaningful journey.

As the seasons changed, our poppies grew and eventually burst into a beautiful display of colourful blooms. But their story didn’t end when the petals fell.

Once the seed heads had ripened and dried, our young gardeners carefully harvested them, collected the tiny seeds and went on to prepare an incredible 300 individual seed envelopes, ready to share with our community.

This week, we were delighted to welcome Reverend Andy into school to collect some of these very special seed packets, which will be available for the congregation to take at Sunday’s Remembrance Service at the church.

We have also taken some of the seed envelopes to our wonderful community shop, giving everyone the opportunity to take home a little piece of our Gardening Club’s Remembrance project and become part of its continuing story.

The poppy has long been a symbol of remembrance, sacrifice and hope. Among the first flowers to bloom on the battle-scarred fields of the First World War, it remains a powerful tribute to those who served and those who lost their lives.

Each little envelope carries something far more meaningful than seeds - a message of remembrance, thoughtfully grown and shared by our young gardeners. And when these poppies bloom again, their story of remembrance will continue to grow.

We Will Remember Them.
