Our Gardening Club children have been busy making bird seed feeders to help our feathered friends through the colder months. As winter approaches, natural food sources for birds become much scarcer, so these feeders will provide a much needed helping hand.
We incorporated a range of tasty treats into the feeders, including different seeds, sultanas, and mealworms. We also used seeds harvested from our own sunflowers, which had been carefully dried in our potting shed. Using our homegrown sunflower seeds is not only sustainable but is also another great way to make the most of what our garden produces.
It’s wonderful to see the children learning about caring for wildlife while practicing sustainability — and we can’t wait to see the birds enjoy their delicious treats!
