This afternoon, year 3 had a very interesting visitor who came all the way from Ancient Rome!
We had a fantastic visit from 'the History Man' who took us on a journey back in time to when the Romans came to Britain. The children were fascinated to learn about Roman soldiers, looking at their armour and equipment, as well as understanding how they built their Roman forts.
They even had the opportunity to become a Roman soldier themselves, by wearing a soldier's helmet, practicing their sword fighting skills and learning how to use shields to protect themselves, as well as learning how to grind wheat to make flour. To end the afternoon, the children became archaeologists and explored a range of Roman artefacts to see if they could work out what they were once used for.
The class had a fantastic time and are so excited to start learning more about the Romans in their history lessons!
